Last year, we spent a morning with the Form One students of St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School. They were bright, curious, and brutally honest — asking the kind of questions adults often avoid about gambling, luck, and what “winning” really means. We didn’t go there to preach. We went there to listen, to start a conversation about choices, pressure, and the quiet ways gambling targets young people who just want to feel seen and successful.
Together, we talked about what happens when minors gamble — not just the legal side, but the emotional toll, the addiction risk, and the dreams that get quietly postponed. And most importantly, we spoke about the help that’s available — that it’s okay to talk, to seek guidance, and to rebuild.
Watching those students nod, laugh, and open up reminded us why we do this work: because prevention starts long before crisis — it starts with a single honest conversation.
Here’s a glimpse of that day.
